The Briar

The Briar is my cross stitch take on an illuminated storybook of Sleeping Beauty. The pattern features various vines and thorny plants making up the briar wall at the bottom of the pattern, backstitched text reading "Once upon a time", 3 tiny fairies, and a distant castle. The model is stitched 2 over 2 on 30 count "Old Salem" linen from The Primitive Hare using overdyed and DMC threads. On 14 count fabric, the pattern will fit comfortably into an 8x10" frame. Pattern Details - 98 stitches wide x 126 stitches high (approx. 7 inches wide by 9 inches high on 14 count fabric) - 4,000 stitches - Includes 2 colorways, one with all DMC threads (5 colors) and one with overdyed (3 colors) and DMC threads (2 colors) - Uses cross stitches and backstitching
