Set sail for the open seas with this collection of enchanting motifs, combining to create one stunning ocean view! Building ships in bottles is a fascinating maritime craft that can be traced back to the 18th century, when sailors and seafarers would whittle their own designs to while away the time on long journeys. A highly skilled art, each creation would differ depending on the shape of the bottle, with the size of the hull and sails being adapted to fit. The magic of this craft has been perfectly captured Durene's charming design. We love the uniqueness of each individual ship, and also how they work together so beautifully as part of a larger sampler! Intertwined with ropes and decorated with a scattering of seashore motifs, this piece uses fresh colours and accents of metallic thread to give a contemporary twist to a traditional subject. Reflecting the shimmer of waves glinting in the sun, the use of Krenik braid will add interest as you stitch - and it'll make this design look especially beautiful when displayed on your wall!
